How to Check a Hotel Room

Staying in a hotel room is an integral part of travelling. However, before accepting the room that you reserved, it is important to check it out first before signing the agreement to stay there. Here are some simple tips on how to make your hotel room more secure.

Before entering, first check the hallways to see if there are any suspicious strangers watching you. If you see one, do not go into your room. Instead, go to the front desk, report the person, and ask to be transferred to a different room on a different floor. You may also want to ask for someone to escort you for safety. Once you are inside the room, place your suitcase away from the open doorway so your escape route will be clear if something goes fishy. Then turn on all the lights before closing and locking your door. With the bright lights on, you can have a general view of the room.

Place your luggage near the bed and do a more thorough search. First, check under the bed and tables to see if there are no spy cameras or hidden microphones. Next, cautiously open the closet and check if there are any strange hardware or electronic devices. Do the same to drawers, cupboards, and cabinets. Then check behind the curtains to see if someone is hiding there. Next, go into the bathroom and check under the sink to see if you are being spied upon. And do not forget to examine behind the shower curtains. Do last-minute checks by looking up the ceilings and corners to see if there are any suspicious holes and protrusions. Finally, if your room has another door that connects to another room, check it out then keep the door locked.
